Living On Campus

Students have the opportunity to live on campus during all four years at Lock Haven University.  This is great news because national studies show students who live on campus have:

  • Better academic success
  • Higher GPAs & degree completion rates
  • Are more satisfied with their academic experience

In fact, our statistics show that students who live in our on-campus housing have a 13% higher graduation rate than students who do not live on campus. Learn more about our Residency Requirement.

Fall 2021 Announcements:

Based on direct student feedback, starting Fall 2021 we have partnered with Apogee to provide enhanced Wi-Fi (MyResNet) to ensure student success and a high-quality college experience. The wireless network not only helps ensure online course success but allows students to easily connect virtually with family and friends, stream their favorite shows, and much more. The service includes single sign-on technology which allows students to access the Internet using their university credentials. No account creation required and no extra passwords to remember. Every room is equipped with Ethernet and wireless access.

Beginning in the summer of 2021, we will no longer supply cable TV service to student residential rooms, suites, and apartments. This decision was a direct result of students' preferences.  Of the residential students surveyed, 99% requested the University prioritize access to streaming and gaming services over cable TV access. In fact, only 71% of respondents reported having a television in their room and of those only 35% reported having their television connected to cable.

Types of Housing

More than 1700 students can live on campus in our traditional residence halls, suite style hall, and apartment complexes. Costs and living configurations vary depending on how many roommates you have and what type of space you choose.

Offering the best opportunity for new students to make friends and be involved in the community on campus, these are where most students live. Typically, two roommates share a room, with a common bathroom located on each floor.

Offering a little more privacy, these are available to all students. Each suite has shared a bathroom and either a shared bedroom or 2 private bedrooms.

Offering apartment style living space, these are typically chosen by returning students. A variety of layouts are available providing bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, a kitchen, and a living room.

Student and Residence Life offers several specialty housing options for students:
