LHU HOPE Center presents 'The Vagina Monologues'
Hailed by The New York Times as “funny,” “poignant” and “almost unbearably moving” and by the Daily News as “intelligent” and “courageous,” “The Vagina Monologues,” which was first performed off-Broadway by Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.
The benefit performance will be presented as part of this year’s V-Day campaign, One Billion Rising, a global initiative that began in 2012 as a call for women survivors of violence to rise and demand an end to violence. This year, risings will focus on highlighting, creating and envisioning new, brave, radical and grassroots artistic initiatives to bring in the new revolutionary world of equality, dignity and freedom for all women and girls.
Tickets for the performances are $3 in advance or $5 at the door and may be bought at the HOPE Center in Ulmer 100, on the campus of LHU, or by emailing Al Bright at amb3330@lockhaven.edu. All proceeds will benefit the Clinton County Women’s Center and the V-Day organization.
