Virtual Book/Author Discussion: 'Out in Central Pennsylvania: The History of an LGBTQ Community'

Virtual Event

A virtual book/author discussion of a newly released book on central Pennsylvania LGBTQ+ history will be held on Zoom, on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:00 pm hosted by Lock Haven University President’s Commission on LGBTQ Affairs. William Burton and Barry Loveland will discuss and read selected passages from their newly released book, Out in Central Pennsylvania: The History of an LGBTQ Community, published by Penn State University Press.

Drawing from oral histories and the archives of the LGBT Center of Central PA History Project, this book recounts the innovative ways that LGBTQ+ central Pennsylvanians organized to demand civil rights and to improve our quality of life in a region that often rejected them.

Please pre-register by contacting Dr. Rick Schulze by October 2 at 5:00 p.m.

The program is free and is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
