On April 21, the Lock Haven University Alumni Association in conjunction with alumnus Vinnie Kishbaugh '05 and WETSU Catering held a virtual cooking class for alumni through Zoom.
Particpants followed Kishbaugh’s step-by-step instructions to prepare a meal of bacon cheeseburger sliders with onion straws and barbeque sauce, antipasto skewers and salsa and chips.
“We had an awesome time learning some new recipes with Chef Kishbaugh,” Haley Ross said. “It was also a great opportunity to see that my husband can cook. I think he will be taking over dinner duties in the future.”
Ross is a 2014 and 2016 graduate of LHU. Her husband, Jeff Ross, is a 2015 and 2017 graduate.
“I would like to thank LHU, not only for reaching out to our business to host this event, but for the numerous opportunities the university has offered my family and I,” Kishbaugh said. “Without LHU, their faculty, staff and their coaches, I would not be where I am today. It is where I made lifelong friends, met my wife and made uncountable memories.”
The event was organized by Ashley Conrad, alumni events manager.
Conrad is also working on scheduling additional upcoming alumni events, including Memorial Day Trivia on May 27, a virtual soapmaking class on June 18, a virtual reunion for alumni who graduated from 2000 to 2009 on Aug. 19 and a virtual reunion for alumni who graduated from 2010 to 2020 on Sept. 23.
“It was a pleasure working with Ashley and the rest of the participants for this online event,” Kishbaugh said. “I hope that everyone had as much fun participating as I did.”
“The cooking class was so much fun,” said 2011 LHU alumna, Carla Cipro. “It was the first time that my husband and I have done that and it was a great twist for our dinner. We very much will try another one if the LHU Alumni Association offers it again.”
