Lock Haven Recognizes Top Honor Graduates for Spring 2023

Commonwealth University-Lock Haven recognized its top honor graduates for each college for Spring 2023 during the University’s commencement ceremony on Friday, May 12.

The top honor graduate from the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities is Kerri Hoover, of Bellefonte, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in communication. She had a triple concentration in advertising/public relations, electronic media, and journalism, as well as a minor in business. Hoover was the recipient of multiple awards during her time at The Haven, including the Legacy Senior Award, Rebecca Gross Outstanding Senior Award, the David White Arts and Science Scholarship, Margaret Ann Brown Memorial Scholarship, the Pennsylvania Public Relations Society Scholarship Award, and the Isadore Lipez Memorial Scholarship, in addition to being on the dean’s list every semester. She was a member and president of Lambda Pi Eta, president and editor-in-chief of the Eagle Eye newspaper, and a member of HavenScope, Radio Club, and Full Gospel Fellowship. Hoover also held several jobs on campus including as a peer career mentor for the Center for Career and Professional Development, a social media specialist for the Health Science Department, and a student worker in the Parsons Union Building.

The College of Education and Human Studies has named Marissa Bulkley their top honor graduate. Bulkley, of Granville Summit, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in middle level education with a content specialization in social studies and a minor in business. She was on the dean’s list every semester and was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta history national honor society and Kappa Delta Pi education honor society. She also served as president and member of the environmental Club and worked as a student success mentor in the student success office. She was the team lead for the Haven Leadership Program, mentored freshmen in the special education and middle level education majors, and was an admissions ambassador.

The top honor graduate from the College of Health Professions is Megan Peters, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in pre-physician assistant. Peters, of Elizabethtown, was a member and treasurer of the Public Health Club, volunteered at the Haven Cupboard, and was on the dean’s list every semester. She plans to attend the Commonwealth University Clearfield location to obtain a physician assistant degree.

From the College of Science and Technology, Blake Roberts is the top honor graduate. Roberts, of Julian, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in applied computer science. He was the recipient of the Bo Miller Excellence in Computer Science Scholarship and completed an IT internship at the Bald Eagle Area Middle and High School.

The top honor graduate from the Zeigler College of Business, is Kinley Gioglio. Gioglio, of Stroudsburg, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in business administration. She was named a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete 2019-23, a Division 2 Athletic Directors’ Association Achievement Award Recipient 2020-23, and a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Academic All-American 2020-23. She was the recipient of the Poorman Business Scholarship and the Faragalli Family Scholarship and was on the dean’s list every semester. She was a member of the softball team, the Sport Management Club, and volunteered with the Clinton County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). She was a student worker for the Athletic Department as well as the Advancement/Alumni Office and plans to pursue a master’s degree in sport science at Lock Haven.
