2019-2020 Returning Student Housing Selection

Don’t get locked out. If you will be returning to LHU next fall, take advantage of your current student status by selecting next year’s housing assignment (August 2019 - May 2020) today. New-to-LHU students begin their 2019-2020 housing selection process in March so don’t delay. Select the exact space you’ll live in next year before anyone else.

Process Overview and Timeline

The 2019-2020 (August 2019 – May 2020) Housing Selection process consists of four steps each opening on specific days. Scroll down to the Step-By-Step Housing Selection Guides for extensive instructions.

STEP 1: SIGN UP FOR ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
OPENS NOVEMBER 5, 2018

Begin the housing selection process by signing the online Housing and Food Service Licensing Agreement, choosing a meal plan, and updating your personal information including living preferences.

STEP 2: COMPLETE A SPECIALTY HOUSING AGREEMENT (if applicable)
OPENS JANUARY 14, 2019

Want to live in a single, double-as-single, or Campus Village efficiency apartment? How about Gender-Inclusive Housing? Sign up by completing the appropriate specialty housing agreement. Without a completed agreement, you will be unable to select rooms, suites, or apartments designated as single-occupant or Gender-Inclusive. If you don’t want to live in any of the specialty housing options, skip Step 2.

Please note, the Pet-Friendly and International Roommate specialty housing options do not require the completion of an additional agreement.

Step 3: Declare Your Roommate (if applicable)
Opens February 4, 2019

Using the Simple Roommate Search or the Advanced Roommate Search, send a roommate request to the person with whom you want to live. Your chosen roommate must accept your roommate request to complete Step 3. All roommates must be fully matched in order for the system to allow you to select a room in Step 4.

If you completed a Single/Double-as-Single agreement in Step 2, skip Step 3. If you want to live on campus with a roommate but don’t want to do the process yourself, follow the Automated Assignment guide listed below.

Step 4: Select Your Room
Dates Vary

It’s time to select your room! Students participating in housing selection will be assigned a selection time during the applicable room selection period listed below. Selection times do not expire so you can select a room at or after your assigned day/time. Just remember, the longer you wait, the more students who will be selecting a room at the same time as you.

Room Selection Periods:

  • Single, Double-as-Single, & CV Efficiency room selection – Opens February 4, 2019
  • Gender-Inclusive Housing room selection – Opens February 11, 2019
  • Same Hall room selection – February 11, 2019 to February 15, 2019
  • Any Hall room selection – Opens February 18, 2019
  • Automated Assignment – Early March 2019

All students who haven’t selected a room by February 15, 2019, will receive an updated selection time to participate in the Any Hall room selection period. Even though all students will receive a selection time, only one member of a roommate pair needs to select a room.

Important Reminders

The Housing and Food Service Licensing Agreement
Your on-campus housing contract is a legally binding document for the entire academic year. By submitting a contract, you are stating that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions in the Housing and Food Service Licensing Agreement.

Residency Requirement
Per the University’s two-year residency requirement, students must reside on campus for their first four (4) regular semesters (summer and winter sessions not included).  Current students required to live on campus next year who do not participate in the housing selection process will be assigned to a room and roommate in early March 2019 by Student and Residence Life.

Evergreen Commons is an approved option for the second year of the LHU Residency Requirement in addition to Campus Village, Fairview Suites, and the traditional residence halls. Students seeking to live in Evergreen Commons must declare their intention by completing the online Evergreen Commons Statement of Intent to avoid being assigned to on-campus housing.

Completing the Entire Process

Any current student who completed Step 1: Sign Up For On-Campus Housing but does not finish the housing selection process will be assigned to a room and roommate in early March 2019 by Student and Residence Life.
