Returning Students Apply for Housing

Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 On-Campus Housing Selection For Returning Students

If you’re required to live on campus but skip Housing Selection, or complete Step 1 but not Step 2 or 3, Student & Residence Life will assign you automatically to a room on March 9, 2018. Campus Village and Evergreen Commons are approved options for the completion of the 2nd year of the LHU Residency Requirement in addition to Fairview Suites and the traditional residence halls.

Housing Selection Dates and Deadlines 


 

 

Step 1: Sign Up For On-Campus Housing (Starts December 4, 2017)

  • Log in to Housing & Dining Self Service via the myHaven Student tab (use Chrome internet browser for best results).
  • Choose Returning Student Housing Application for Fall of 2018 from the Application drop down menu.
  • Read the contract thoroughly and sign using your mouse or finger.
  • Click Continue.
  • After you’ve clicked Continue, you’ll be redirected to the Dining Plan Selection screen. Select your desired meal plan from the list provided.
  • Click Continue to finish signing up for on-campus housing and a meal plan.
  • Select Addresses & Emergency Contacts from the Your Personal Information drop down menu.
  • Fill in all required fields for each of your emergency contacts and click Save This Contact before entering your next emergency contact.
  • Select Update Information from the Your Personal Information drop down menu.
  • Make sure Fall 2018 is showing in the Select A Term field and click Submit.
  • Answer all of the lifestyle preference questions and click Submit to complete Step 1 of the Housing Selection process.

Step 2: Choose Your Roommate (Starts February 5, 2018)

  • In Housing & Dining Self Service, choose Roommate/Suitemate from the Room Selection dropdown menu.
  • If you already know you’d like to room with, do a Simple Roommate Search using the person’s name, email, etc. to find that person.
  • If you don’t yet have a roommate, do an Advanced Roommate Search. Enter the attributes of your dream roommate and select Begin Search. The fewer attributes you request in your search, the more potential matches you’ll see.
  • Send your selected roommate a roommate request.
  • Check the Roommate/Suitemate section often to see if your roommate request was accepted or to see who has sent you a roommate request.
  • Once you’ve selected a roommate, and that person has accepted you, you’re ready to pick a room come selection time.

TIP: Prefer to have Student & Residence Life assign you a roommate? Sign up for your preferred residence hall’s Waiting List and you’ll be randomly assigned a room and roommate on March 9, 2018. In Housing & Dining Self-Service, choose Waiting Lists from the More Tasks dropdown menu.

Step 3: Room Selection

Same Hall Room Selection (February 12 – February 16, 2018)

Want to live in your current residence hall again next year? Take advantage of Same Hall Room Selection.

  • Check your LHU email Feb. 11th for your assigned selection day and start time. Both you and your roommate will receive a selection day/start time but only one of you needs to log in to select a room.
  • In Housing & Dining Self Service, choose Select a Room or Suite from the Room Selection dropdown menu.
  • Choose a room for you and your roommate – You will only see available rooms in your current residence hall.
  • Assign you and your roommate to a bed – It doesn’t matter who is placed in which bed, but it’s a required step.
  • Submit your room selection.
  • Congratulations, you’re done! Student & Residence Life will send you an email on March 9, 2018 confirming your Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 housing assignment.

All Hall Room Selection (February 19 – March 2, 2018)

Want to live in a different residence hall next year? Participate in All Hall Room Selection to choose from any available room on campus.

  • Check your LHU email Feb. 18th for your assigned selection day and start time. Both you and your roommate will receive a selection day/start time but only one of you needs to log in to select a room.
  • In Housing & Dining Self Service, choose Select a Room or Suite from the Room Selection dropdown menu.
  • Choose a room for you and your roommate – You will only see rooms you’re currently eligible for.
  • Assign you and your roommate to a bed – It doesn’t matter who is placed in which bed, but it’s a required step.
  • Submit your room selection.
  • Congratulations, you’re done! Student & Residence Life will send you an email on March 9, 2018 confirming your Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 housing assignment.
