The 2019-2020 FAFSA is Available to File

  • Students who wish to receive federal and state financial aid, including Direct Student Loans, should complete and submit a 2019-2020 FAFSA based on the 2017 tax year.
  • To file a FAFSA, go to and be sure to include LHU’s school code: 003323
  • Make sure to transfer your IRS tax information from the IRS onto your FAFSA
  • LHU’s suggested filing date is March 15, 2019

Fall 2019 New Students’ Financial Aid Application Timeline

The financial aid application process is one that occurs over several months throughout the year. Please access the calendar below to help guide you through.

Timeframe Tasks to complete


  • File your 2018-2019 FAFSA for the upcoming school year and be sure to list LHU on your FAFSA. LHU’s school code is 003323.
  • PA Residents should complete the State Grant Form immediately after filing the FAFSA. Follow the link on the FAFSA application just after submitting the FAFSA application.


  • Begin searching for outside scholarships
  • Accepted LHU Students who have a FAFSA on file will receive a Financial Aid Award Letter in early December. Once the financial aid is awarded, a student can view it online via the myHaven portal.


  • Make sure that your complete, signed FAFSA is submitted by LHU’s Priority Filing date of March 15h
  • All paid students whose FAFSA was selected for verification review, will also receive a verification request by mail. Please complete and return within 30 days.


  • PA Residents: If you did not yet file your FAFSA, make sure it is filed before the end of the month to avoid missing the PA State Grant deadline (May 1, 2018).


  • Complete Direct Loan requirements, Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note. See award letter for details.
  • Forward copies of outside scholarship notifications to the Financial Aid Office.


  • Receive your student bill from the Student Accounts Office (your processed financial aid will appear on the bill)
  • Apply for additional loan (Direct PLUS Loan for a parent or Private Loan) if needed to cover expenses not covered by awarded aid. Most Private loans take approximately 4-5 weeks to completely process.


  • Assure that all financial aid requirements are complete for the start of the fall semester by reviewing the fall semester bill online. Billing information can be located via myHaven under the “Student Accounts” tab.
