Why Choose LHU?

We will waive your $200 tuition deposit requirement.  Once you commit to Lock Haven University, we will defer your tuition deposit and allow you the opportunity take full advantage of your military educational benefits.

We will waive the SAT or ACT exam requirements. If you have served active duty, you will not be required to submit SAT or ACT exams.  We will use your military experience as our admission criteria.

We will provide you with Priority Scheduling.  As of spring 2015, all veterans will receive priority course scheduling.

We will provide college credit for your military experience (including basic training).  You may request a Joint Services Transcript (JST) by clicking here:

Before being admitted to Lock Haven University, students should speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their military service.

We are committed to facilitating communication among our campus offices in order to serve student veterans, military service members, reservists, and their families with a coordinated system to provide a meaningful transition from the military to LHU to realize their full potential in academia, the workplace and in their social circle. 

Admission Process

  • APPLY AS A FRESHMAN - If you joined the military after high school graduation and have not taken college courses.
  • APPLY AS A TRANSFER STUDENT - If you attended any college or university after high school graduation.  
  • REACTIVATE APPLICATION - If you applied to LHU within the past year, but did not attend or withdrew for military reasons.

Military Education Benefits

As a veteran, eligible dependent, or reservist you may be able to receive entitlement funding based upon a service obligation. The Financial Aid Office  of Lock Haven University makes every effort to ensure that service members receive all educational benefits they are entitled to.

Those students who have served in active duty as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces Division and who were discharged under any condition other than dishonorable would be considered a veteran. These students should answer “Yes” to the question on the FAFSA asking if the student is a veteran.

You will need to provide a copy of your DD214 to the Financial Aid Office to verify your veteran status in order to process federal aid.
