Guest Students

A guest student is someone who chooses to enroll at LHU as a non-degree seeking student. This includes students who are enrolled in high school or at another college or university.  This also includes individuals who are interested in taking a few college courses but not necessarily earning a degree.

 Guest Student Enrollment Process

Select the option below that best describes your situation:

General Information

LHU welcomes guest students throughout the year.  You can study during a summer session or an academic fall or spring semester.

Session Dates:

  • Summer Session 1 -- May 20, 2019 – June 21, 2019 (Closed May 27, 2019)
  • Summer Session 2 -- June 24, 2019 – July 26, 2019 (Closed July 4, 2019)
  • Summer Extended -- May 20, 2019 – July 26, 2019 (Closed May 27, 2019 and July 4, 2019)
  • Fall Semester -- August 26 – December 12, 2019
  • Spring Semester -- January 21 – May 8, 2020

Dual Enrollment High School Students

Do you consider yourself highly motivated?  Eager to find out what college is like?  The LHU dual enrollment program allows students from local high schools to take classes at Lock Haven University.  Students receive credit for all courses where a passing grade is earned.  

To take classes at LHU as a dual enrollment high school student, complete the following steps:

  • Visit the myHaven student portal
  • In the left most column, select “Registration Information – (select the appropriate session).”
  • Review the registration instructions.
  • Click on “Course Search” to view available courses.
  • Update the term to the session you wish to take courses. (SU=All Summer;  S1=Summer Session 1;  S2=Summer Session 2, etc.)
  • Be sure to select undergraduate as the program level.
  • Write down the course ID and section number of the courses you wish to take (eg. ACCT110-01).
  • Submit the completed form for the campus you plan to attend:  Main Campus Clearfield Campus.  Be sure to include the courses you wish to take.

Important things to keep in mind:

  • Enrollment is based on space availability. 
  • Students will be registered after the current student registration period has ended. 
  • Forms should be submitted as early as possible to the LHU Registar's Office but no later than one week prior to the start of the semester.
  • Dual enrollment students are not eligible for financial aid.
  • Dual enrollment students enrolled in Keystone Central and Jersey Shore school districts receive a 75% reduction on tuition and fees at Main Campus.
  • Dual enrollment students enrolled in the following school districts receive a 75% reduction on tuition and fees at the LHU Clearfield Campus: Clearfield Area, Curwensville, Dubois, Harmony, Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg Osceola, and West Branch
  • A form must be submitted for each semester/session the student wishes to enroll.

PASSHE Visiting Student

A PASSHE Visiting Student is a student from another PASSHE institution who has earned a minimum of 12 college-level credits from that university and is in good academic standing.   PASSHE Visiting Policy

To take classes at LHU as a visiting student, complete the following steps:

  • Visit the myHaven student portal
  • In the left most column, select “Registration Information – (select the appropriate session).”
  • Review the registration instructions.
  • Click on “Course Search” to view available courses.
  • Update the term to the session you wish to take courses. (SU=All Summer;  S1=Summer Session 1;  S2=Summer Session 2, etc.)
  • Be sure to select the appropriate program level (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Write down the course ID and section number of the courses you wish to take (eg. ACCT110-01).
  • Complete and submit the State System of Higher Education Application for Visiting Student Status form to your home university. 
  • Additional items may be required.  Contact your home Registar's Office for guidance on this process.

Important things to keep in mind:

  • This program is only available to students attending one of the fourteen PA System of Higher Education universities.
  • Undergraduate visiting students are limited to taking a total of 23 sh.
  • Graduate visiting students are limited to taking a total of 12 sh.
  • A form must be submitted for each semester/session the student wishes to enroll.

 Non-Degree Student

The LHU guest student program allows non-degree seeking students to take classes at Lock Haven University

To take classes at LHU as a guest student, complete the following steps:

  • Visit the myHaven student portal
  • In the left most column, select “Registration Information – (select the appropriate session).”
  • Review the registration instructions.
  • Click on “Course Search” to view available courses.
  • Update the term to the session you wish to take courses. (SU=All Summer;  S1=Summer Session 1;  S2=Summer Session 2, etc.)
  • Be sure to select the appropriate program level (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Write down the course ID and section number of the courses you wish to take (eg. ACCT110-01).
  • Submit the walk-in registration form.  Be sure to include the courses you wish to take.

Important things to keep in mind:

  • Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.
  • A form must be submitted for each semester/session the student wishes to enroll.

NOTE: If you are currently enrolled at a PASSHE university and wish to apply to be a visiting student at LHU, please submit the State System of Higher Education Application for Visiting Student Status form to your home university.  See the PASSHE Visiting Student section to the left for additional information.
