RVT offers bus service, free rides to LHU community

River Valley Transit (RVT) began bus services in Clinton County on Tuesday, February 20. The routes will include an express to and from Williamsport and a connector that stops in Jersey Shore for a bus transfer en route to Williamsport. Both routes will have multiple local stops and will service Lock Haven University.

The service also includes the “HavenPass” feature, which provides fare-free rides to LHU students, faculty, and staff. LHU passengers should present their university picture ID card when entering the bus to take advantage of HavenPass. Buses will run six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

According to the ride guide, the early morning outbound to Walmart route is: Lycoming Mall Drive at 5:20 a.m., the Trade and Transit Centre in Williamsport at 5:45, Fourth and Arch streets in Williamsport at 5:55, Thomas and Allegheny streets in Jersey Shore at 6:10, UPMC Bald Eagle Court in McElhattan at 6:25, Main and Church streets in Lock Haven at 6:45, Woods Avenue/Bennage Avenue at 6:50, the UPMC Susquehanna Lock Haven hospital at 6:55, and Walmart at 7:05.

The morning inbound to Williamsport route is: Woods Avenue/Bennage Avenue at 7:10 a.m., UPMC Bald Eagle Court in McElhattan at 7:35, Thomas and Allegheny streets in Jersey Shore at 7:50, UPMC Bald Eagle Court at 8:05, and the Trade and Transit Centre at 8:30.

Other bus stops along these two routes include, but are not limited to: Weis Market in Jersey Shore, Jersey Shore Recreational Park, McElhattan Drive, Dunnstown, Clinton County Housing Authority, Flemington, Hogan Boulevard, Millbrook Plaza and Walmart.

Riders to and from the Williamsport area may need to transfer buses at Jersey Shore, and transferring is free.
