Lock Haven University President, Dr. Michael Fiorentino Jr., was honored with a resolution at the Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Board of Governors meeting on Thursday, January 25.

The resolution honored the contributions of Fiorentino during his time as president, in which the university received among the highest scores on PASSHE performance funding measures, several new academic programs were introduced, three colleges were established, and several major campus projects were completed. The resolution also recognized Fiorentino’s outstanding leadership as a colleague and trusted adviser to the chancellor, other State System presidents, and senior leadership throughout PASSHE.

“President Michael Fiorentino is an extraordinarily accomplished educator and university president,” Karen M. Whitney, Ph.D., PASSHE interim chancellor, said. “His strong sound approach to leadership and stewardship of Lock Haven has set the university upon a very productive and successful path.”

Indiana University of Pennsylvania President, Michael Driscoll, spoke at the meeting on behalf of the other PASSHE presidents. He described Fiorentino as a great friend and colleague and a “man of few words … a president’s president.”

“When he spoke, you always knew that he meant what he said and he said what he meant,” Driscoll added.
