Haven Mic Night 2018 is set for Friday, March 2 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Avenue 209 Coffee House.
The event is being hosted by Lock Haven University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, along with sponsors Thrivent Financial and the Salvation Army of Lock Haven.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Salvation Army’s After School program.
The LHU SAAC members also hope the event raises general awareness for the after school program and all the good it does in the local community. Members of the Salvation of Army of Lock Haven will be on hand at the event accepting financial donations. The donation of school supplies for the after school program is also encouraged.
“The Salvation Army after school program has such a tremendous impact on the lives of the local children they work with,” said Sam Signor. “They provide tutoring, mentorship, educational opportunities and a meal two nights a week in a supervised and nurturing environment.”
“They (Salvation Army) essentially receive no funding, so every little bit we can do to support the program -- be it financially or by helping to find more volunteers -- can go a long way in helping them reach more local youth,” added Mitch Coakley.
The event is open to all and all types of acts including music, comedy, poetry reading and more are welcome for Haven Mic Night. Spots are limited however, so please register ASAP.
To register or to request more information on the event contact: LHU student-athletes Sam Signor (email@example.com) or Mitch Coakley (firstname.lastname@example.org) today. *Monetary donations as well as school supplies (pencils, pens, crayons, notebooks, etc.) are being accepted – contact Signor or Coakley to make a donation.
