Elizabeth Arnold has been named Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations at Lock Haven University. Arnold, a Lock Haven native, began her duties August 23rd after previously serving as the University’s marketing and communications associate. An experienced writer, editor, and communicator with a background in journalism, higher education, and community outreach, Arnold says she looks forward to sharing LHU’s story across a variety of platforms.
“I’m eager to tell the LHU story in fresh and exciting ways and to share the great things happening at The Haven with a wide audience. As a lifelong Lock Haven resident, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my career in the community that built me and that I care deeply about,” she says.
Before joining University Relations, Arnold served as a faculty member in the English department at LHU. She has also worked extensively in digital and print publications. Her nonfiction essays have garnered multiple awards, including being listed as notable in the Best American Essays series.
Arnold holds a bachelor’s in English from Messiah College, a master’s in English from Arcadia University, and an MFA in creative writing from The Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University.
During her time in University Relations, Arnold oversaw a complete redesign of the university’s alumni magazine-The Haven. She also coordinated news and media relations, directed the creation
of written content for the University’s recently redesigned website, and created a University-wide brand and identity guide.
President Michael Fiorentino is confident that, “Elizabeth has the experience and work ethic necessary to take on this position and foster relationships that will highlight the successes of our students and staff. She has consistently exemplified her talent and skills with each task she has undertaken. I look forward to seeing the new and creative light that will promote The Haven Advantage to all audiences.”
